The mission of Journey Church is to guide people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
What do we value?
Christ-Centered Relationships - We long to be a church of Christ-followers pursuing authentic relationship with God and one another. We long to be a church in which members can count on one another. From birth to death we desire to support, encourage and help one another. We believe ministries are most effectively led by teams of people with a common interest, who are particularly skilled, Spirit empowered and intensely devoted to one another and the cause of Christ.
Servant Leadership - is important to us, Our Leader, Jesus, said that He, “did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28). In this we desire to follow His example. Grace as the governing principle of conduct for Christians. God desires that we would fully celebrate and enjoy the life He has created for us. He does not pile on the burdens of religion, tradition, and guilt-inducing Law. In Christ, we are set free to live joyfully and enthusiastically.“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”(Galatians 5:1 ESV)
Character - In a “What have you done for me lately?”- performance-oriented society, we opt for character. As followers of Christ we desire our attitudes and behavior to conform to His (Philippians 2:1-5).
“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus…” (Philippians 2:1-5 ESV)
Family - This value is twofold: We believe that the Church is a big family, and we are committed to growing together as a big family, and to promoting love for Jesus in our individual family units. We value seeing families grow in their relationship with Jesus as King, in devotion to God, and in mission together.
- Relationships as a result of Healing Grace Acceptance/Compassion
- Intimacy with God-Strong vertical lives

Journey Church…reaching the world by connecting our community with the extravagant love of Christ.
What is a mental picture of where the church would like to be in the net 1-3-5 years?
Journey Church is committed to reaching the world by connecting our community with the extravagant love of Christ. It is our desire as a church to make a difference in our world. We make a difference by making disciples of Jesus. Our starting point is Yuma, AZ. One way we do this is by inviting people to our user-friendly worship service each week that emphasizes Spirit-empowered worship, Christ-exalting teaching, and authentic ministry. Though Radius Groups around our community, our church seeks to help Christ-followers mature in their faith, and reach those who do not know personally know Jesus Christ, and to lead them to a saving faith in Him. The Lord’s love for us is nothing but extravagant. He endured persecution, humiliation, even the disgrace of crucifixion on a Roman cross, but He did so as a sacrifice for the sins of all of us. Jesus’ love for us is extravagant. Journey exists to acknowledge this extravagant love through worship of Jesus, and to share this incredible, extravagant love with our world. It is our goal by following this vision that our church will be a healthy, vibrant, disciple-multiplying family that transforms the entire word, starting in Yuma, AZ.
How we guide people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Love God Wholeheartedly, and Love People
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and will all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:36-40 ESV)
“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24 ESV)
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. (1 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV)
Live a Spirit-Filled Life
“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. (Ephesians 5:18-21 ESV)
Make Scripture and Obedience to God a Priority
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:15-17 ESV)
Grow in Relationship with Jesus
“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith…” (Philippians 3:7-9 ESV)
Live As Missionaries In Our Community
“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:16-20 ESV)
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you’ and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (Acts 1:8 ESV)
Use the Gifts God Has Given Us To Serve
“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” (Ephesians 4:11-14 ESV)
Attend Church Regularly
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV)
Financially Support The Church
“Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come. And when I arrive, I will send those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to Jerusalem. If it seems advisable that I should go also, they will accompany me.” (1 Corinthians 16:1-4 ESV)
